We just got back from our Romania trip and we’re so excited to share our experiences with you all. We’d like to start by thanking everyone who gave to us or prayed for us first though. You all have shown us such generosity and been God’s outlet of provision to us. We are forever grateful for your support!
This trip was absolutely crazy to plan. After lots of prayer and searching. We prayed about it, stayed silent about it, replanned, rechanged, rearranged, and redid everything just trying to follow the leading of Holy Spirit. (more details on our blog). We feel like we had to go through all of the changes to discover what God needed to tell us about flexibility, ministry partners, and making sure we’re led-even when the plans change.
Plan A: Mission in Paris for a week, stay in Romania for two weeks while leading a team for one of those weeks, take a leadership team to Athens for two weeks to get a feel for the location along with a trial run to see how leading a team there would go. Obviously this didn’t work out. After thinking we weren’t going at all and then thinking about only one of us going, we finally landed on plan H.
Plan H: After being disheartened that our 9 person team that was going fell through; Alyssa and Jonna went to Romania for three weeks, going with the flow, ministering where we could and ministering individually because we were so few.
Being Flexible in God's Plan
We say all of this roller coaster of a year, to express that it was God’s plan for us to go alone. We were able to do so much because it was just us. We ended up doing a lot of intercessory prayer over the country, the church, the families, long term missionaries, and short term teams. We did a lot of spiritual warfare against witchcraft, and blessed the long term missionaries in ways that we would not have even been able to do if we had a team. Because we were a two person team we were able to really pray about where we were needed and do exactly what God called us to do. When we felt God calling us to stay at the mission house and go into spiritual warfare for the missionary teams, we were free to pray. We were also available to counsel some of the missionaries there when they were needing someone to talk to.We ministered God’s love in the witch capital of the world. We created friendships that open opportunities for hearing about Jesus. Relationships that we have still kept even after being home. We have been where we fit long term in Craiova, Romania. We painted a huge world map mural for the Missions Office in Craiova. We were even blessed to visit a Roma (gypsy) Church, giving them lots of clothes to assist them and came back for an evening service.
What we did in Romania
We did kids ministry, eyeglass ministry (which was a HUGE blessing for the locals there!) and then passed out New Testaments in that town (which we were able to pass out to the whole village!). The eyeglass ministry also included health checkups and counseling/prayer. Most of the locals were really impressed and loved that we simply gave and loved on them. We drove around in a van and were able to pray for each village, ministry, and missionary in various different villages which was absolutely amazing.
Over all our trip was major confirmation that God definitely wants us in Romania. We are moving forward with His vision over our lives and we are incredibly blessed to have you all on our journey with us. We are excited for the next few years of creating our base in Romania as we continue to lead trips throughout Europe.

In Closing and Upcoming events
We can't begin to express how much it means to us to have a continual flow of support. We are praying about where and when to go next summer but we definetly want to lead a missions trip to Romania next summer. We are also praying about visiting our contacts in Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Greece; along with getting a few more contacts in Hungary and Austria. Keep us in your prayers as we are wanting to be flexible in the leading of the Holy Spirit and for our ears to be open to what He wants to say and do. Thank you so much!
The Nations Call Team. Jonna and Alyssa
